Osprey.

The short trip to Dowdeswell Reservoir didn't seem like such a bright idea when I left the house at 0530hrs. Gloomy and wet. On site, 0615hrs (the bird's regular morning routine) passed with no sign. I began to wonder, but fortunately without cause. At 0630hrs the Osprey flew west to east down the reservoir (I didn't see where it came from), circled above the treetops before disappearing - apparently - back into the trees. It did try to land at the top of one evergreen, but true to form a Crow wouldn't let it. I left at 0700hrs, by which time there had been no further sign.

As it cruised over the water I did fire off a couple of record shots, but the light was embryonic so the best I can do is say that yes... it's an Osprey.

Osprey.(The untouched images are very dark, and my Photoshop skills are remedial at best.)

I might try for it later in the afternoon, but now I must focus on the F.A. Cup semi-final. COYB.
